The Funky Forest is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit, and donations are tax-deductible. Donations to The Funky Forest go towards event expenses, which in turn support artists, musicians, and small businesses by helping our events take place which provide artist and small-business vending and musician gig opportunities.
The biggest expense each year is the zoning permit needed for the Forestville Holiday Faire, which is… get ready… $1831.69. Yes, it’s that much for a permit for a one-day community event. Sigh… So before I can pay for anything else, like event insurance, advertising, equipment, etc., I have to have nearly $2k set aside for this expense.
